Case study · E-commerce

Jacket Society

An independent LA clothing brand with great product, real sales, and a platform quietly bleeding both. We fixed the foundation, then wired the marketing to sell on autopilot — sales up 30% in months.

The setup

Jacket Society — now Just Style LA — designs and sells jackets, blazers, scarves, and jewelry. Owner Nora Minassian is a content machine: thousands of words, hundreds of shoots, and an audience that actually opens her emails.

The store underneath her didn’t deserve her. Pages timed out, resources maxed, and every glitch was a sale lost and an afternoon burned. Nora and her husband Tim met Alex at a local website meetup and asked for a straight read on their platform.

The audit found two problems: a heavy site on underpowered hosting, and an email list working at a fraction of its potential. Both fixable.

The challenge

A store that timed out under its own success — and a 50%-open-rate email list nobody was monetizing.

  • Stop the timeouts. A resource-hungry theme on underpowered hosting was costing real sales.
  • Free the owners. Nora and Tim needed to run promotions and pages without a developer in the loop.
  • Cash the list. Open rates near 50% with no automation behind them — money on the table.
  • Keep it independent. A small brand’s budget, a small brand’s speed — without small ambitions.

The solution

Rebuild the foundation, then make the marketing automatic.

  • A ground-up custom theme. Lightweight and fast, with page-builder flexibility for sales landing pages.
  • Pantheon hosting. Right-sized, managed, and done with timeouts.
  • MailChimp → ActiveCampaign. Behavior tags drive the automations: loyalty discounts for high-value customers, re-engagement for the quiet ones.
  • Abandoned carts, recovered. The easiest revenue in e-commerce, finally switched on.
The results

Automated. Then it sold.

+30%

sales within a few months of the rebuild and automation work.

~50%

average email open rates — now actually monetized.

3–4 / wk

the tested email sweet spot — every send produced sales.

Carts back

abandoned-cart recovery and loyalty automations running on autopilot.

Marketing on autopilot

Behavior tags fire the automations: loyal customers get rewarded, drifting subscribers get re-engaged, and the truly gone get unsubscribed — keeping the list healthy and the open rates honest. Every email earns its keep.

Owners back in charge

Nora ships seasonal sale pages herself with a lightweight page builder, the homepage changes when the inventory does, and the platform finally keeps up with the content engine that drives it.
